@Lisa89 - should be: "Russos confirm that Tony Stark actor is playing Dr. Doom because IT IS PART OF THE STORY".

Doom is 1000% a Stark variant.

The MCU became another James Bond. Even if these two Avengers films will create new glimpses of hope in a new MCU, it can't erase all the post-Endgame entries that never really stick like Eternals and Cap 4.

Falcon defeating a Hulk instead of the actual Hulk will forever be one of those moments that define the MCU.

@MGSSnake1988 - "Defeating" is a strong word. If you actually watched the movie he definitely didn't defeat him. He was about to die and talked Red Hulk down.

MGSSnake1988 - 3/16/2025, 2:30 PM

@Urubrodi - He did. Falcon lured Ross from the White House into an island with flowers, stabbed him multiple times, and convinced him to change for Betty.

He could've rallied the Avengers at that monemnt, didn't do it. Rogers had Black Widow, Falcon, and Nick Fury to help him out.

@MGSSnake1988 - The stabs didn't do shit, Falcon couldn't physically fight him anymore, just one flick from Red Hulk and he would have died. I wouldn't call that defeating him. He put all his hopes in trying to reason with him and trying to bring up his memories with Betty. I think that was an acceptable resolution to it.

There were no Avengers to rally, throughout the entire film they make it a point to say that The Avengers no longer exist.

MGSSnake1988 - 3/16/2025, 3:15 PM

@Urubrodi - He already encountered Bucky. Since Brave New World is a Winter Solider rehash, Falcon could've done what Steve did in that film: recruit some Avengers to help him. He didn't and solved the problem himself.

If there's no Avenger needed to foil a Hulk tearing down the White House, there shouldn't be more Avengers films or teams to be formed.

@MGSSnake1988 – So, as the Hulk was rampaging in Washington, you wanted him to rally an inactive team that has no members who are presumably not in the same state as him? Was he supposed to wait for Red Hulk to kill everybody in Washington?

Instead of leaping into action, you wanted him to call Ant-Man, the Wakandans, Rhodey, Hulk, and Bucky because that’s probably all he knows, and say, 'Hey guys, I know you can't move at the speed of light and yes, I know you don’t have Tony Stark money to get on a plane, or we don’t have Fury to get on a helicarrier, BUT I have a potential problem here in Washington. This guy Samuel Sterns just gave me a very ominous warning about some potential danger involving the president. No, I don’t know what the danger is. No, I don’t know if it’s a real threat, but can you all get here quick? Ross might be a hulk.. how do I know? Oh I don't. The guy I had looking into it got killed but I have a feeling that this is an avengers level threat...OK, byyeeee.'

@MGSSnake1988 - "It can't erase all the post-Endgame entries that never really stick like Eternals and Cap 4."

It can actually. It can reboot everything by the end of Secret Wars. And maybe The Russos can stay onboard to guide the next Saga, whatever they end up calling it.

KennKathleen - 3/16/2025, 4:21 PM

@MGSSnake1988 - They actually CAN erase post-Endgame entries.

The question: Will they be able to write cohesive tales that regain the interests? I sure hope so.

My greatest desire for the MCU:

ORIGINAL STORIES POST SECRET WARS.

We've seen great stories formatted from many classic moments, but it's time to be surprised by something fresh, instead of being impressed by accurate renditions of what's already been...

Apophis71 - 3/16/2025, 6:56 PM

@MyCoolYoung - The call the Avengers line is always dumb, best solo film we had (Winter Soldier) the actual leader of a fully formed and still operational Avengers didn't call them cos narratively it would be dumb and lazy just like it would be for Batman to ask Superman to hop over the bay to deal with villains in his solo films. In most cases there tends to be little warning things are going to escalate so doing a time out to make a few calls and wait for everyone to arrive is dumb (even if you could theoreticaly ask Dr Strange to portal everyone) but mostly it would NOT make things better, if anything the opposite as where are the stakes if you can always call up the big guns.

@gambgel - that's because that conversation is bullshit.

@Apophis71 - Agreed 100%. Iron Man didn't call in *Iron Man 3*, and so on and so forth. And great point regarding making a few calls and waiting. Imagine Sam making that call and allowing Ross to rampage. Who would come? Strange is in the Dark Dimension. Maybe Carol could get there, but nobody else could.

Allow solos to be solos

MGSSnake1988 - 3/16/2025, 10:54 PM

@MyCoolYoung - Sam has no business whatsoever in dealing with threats who are dangerous enough to be his problems. He had all the chances throughout the film to form a new team. Rogers had a team in every film. Why does he need to rely on his own if he's supposed to be called Captain America?

Heck, the Red Hulk rampage could've been avoided if Hulk either fought him or helped. It actually negates Hulk's inventions in the She-Hulk television series useless, and tarnished his entire reputation because his blood, in Ross' words, led to two megaton nukes.

@ObserverIO - This is like saying Casino Royale will erase A View to a Kill's existence just because it's a great Bond film, as does X-Men: Days of Future Past to X-Men: The Last Stand.

It's a film that existed after all.

@gambgel - It felt like an epic remake of X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Tranasformers.

It's as long as Infinity War, but not really important to the Multiverse Saga.

@MGSSnake1988 - did you watch the movie? He literally had the same team Steve did in winter soldier. Ruth, former widow taking on the Natasha role. Torres, new falcon taking over Sam’s role. At no point in the movie was there a threat big enough to form the avengers until it was too late. Sam was investigating to clear Isiah name and that’s the main conflict. Japan vs America is a government issue not an avengers issue

MGSSnake1988 - 3/17/2025, 6:29 AM

@MyCoolYoung - Watched it last Feb 12. Both Torres and Ruth aren't even considered his team. Imagine The Winter Solider's plot without without Black Widow, Falcon, and Nick Fury. Captain America leads others to win the fight. Did the new Cap 4 did that in Cap 4? He did not.

Iron Man 3 worked because it answered Rogers' question in The Avengers if he can operate with or without the suit, and Strak isolating himself from the world is a plot point carried over from the previous two Iron Man films. Cap 4 didn't work because the title character is destined to be the leader of the Avengers and never showed any leadership traits whatsoever besides phoning in the plots of Norton Hulk and Eternals. Moreover, the argument whether Sam will take the serum or not is completely void when he can receive a bunch of cool tech anyway.

@MyCoolYoung - Are you saying that Banner, a pioneer in gamma radiation, is useless in a conflict that involves gamma radiation? Yikes.

Login to report abuse

MyCoolYoung - 3/17/2025, 12:08 PM

@MGSSnake1988 - who knew about the gamma radiation? Sterns. Genuinely the only one. So you wanted sam to call Banner about something he didn't know about.

"The pills. I have a guy on that" you forgot about that part or are you being obtuse. Sam doesn't know what Sterns is up to and what he had been giving to Ross.

They aren't a team because you say they aren't? Sam and torres have been a team for 3 years and Ruth joins the team after the bunker. They're literally the team you're asking for.

MGSSnake1988 - 3/17/2025, 12:33 PM

@MyCoolYoung - Nick Fury called Banner off-screen and is instrumental in The Winter Solider and he was given a drug that can slow his heart beat. Why wouldn't Sam call Banner instead of a random person to do that? Unknown, in spite of interacting with him at the end of Endgame.

Plus, there is no team. Sam got Torres but he couldn't help out in the end because he got the Rhodey treatment from Civil War. Ruth isn't even a team member, if you call her as such.

MyCoolYoung - 3/17/2025, 1:04 PM

@MGSSnake1988 - im not going to lie, this will be my last reply to you because your comprehension of the movie is very poor.

By the time Torres goes down, Sam believes the conflict is over. He stopped Japan and the us from going at each other. He didn’t need a team anymore. By the time he saw Ross rampaging, it’s too late to start a different team. What did you want him to do? Let hulk rampage while he makes some calls like he’s nick fury instead of a soldier.

Speaking of Nick Fury, the organizer of the avengers initiative, he had direct communication with all avengers at the time. He did not say he called him off screen. He said banner developed that to help with his hulk outs. It didn’t do him any good but they thought they could find a use for it. At no point did that movie insinuate Banner was being consulted during the events of winter soldier.

A focused narrative would be nice. We largely havent had that since No Way Home, except for a handful of multiversal projects.

TheVisionary25 - 3/16/2025, 2:29 PM

Well , there was a central narrative being told with Kang but some people have the patience of a gnat fruit fly while also being loud enough that made Marvel be stupidly reactionary (alongside the Majors issue) to do away with that completely it seems which was stupid…

The Infinity Saga itself wasn’t that focused either until IW & EG tied it all together but people have such rose tinted glasses now about that they think it was pretty much perfect.

@MCUKnight11 @TheVisionary25 - Yes to both of you. There used to be a lot more positive discussion here. I for one and tremendously enjoying Daredevil: Born Again and I’m eagerly looking forward to Superman and Fantastic Four. And as I said below, I am cautiously optimistic about the next two Avengers films. I am not thrilled with the casting of RDJ, but I am willing to be surprised by this and how it works out if it works out well.
